Open Altimeter Database (OpenADB)

Welcome to OpenADB ...

OpenADB is a database for satellite altimeter data and derived high-level products. It shall serve users with little experience in satellite altimetry and scientific users evaluating data, generating new products, models and algorithms.

The following products are available via OpenADB:

All products are provided along-track in a sequential data structure following the usual hierarchy mission-cycle-pass with cycles identifying (in general) a repeat period after which the ground track pattern repeats itself and passes are decomposed into ascending and descending portions of the ground track.

The measurements are already corrected by the most actual geophysical corrections. Moreover, as the data of all missions have been carefully harmonized and cross-calibrated in advance it should be possible to merge and combine the products of different missions.

All products are distributed in the hope that they will be useful, but DGFI-TUM provides the data “as is” without warranty, expressed or implied, as to the use or appropriateness of the data and products, and there are no warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose or use.

Acknowledgment

All products are computed based on altimetry missions operated by NASA/CNES (TOPEX, Jason-1), ESA (ERS-1/2, Envisat, Cryosat-2), USNavy/NOAA (GFO), CNES/NASA/Eumetsat/NOAA (Jason-2, Jason-3), ISRO/CNES (Saral), and EUMETSAT (Sentinel-3). The original data sets are disseminated by AVISO, ESA, NOAA, and PODAAC.
